![]() ![]() I am trying to stop the Windows Update service in order to delete the pending.xml file, hopefully preventing the server from trying to force this update install that is causing the system to hang for hours at a time. I have also noticed that the Terminal Services service is in a constant "Stopping" state, which is preventing me from stopping any other service. I can't open things related to the control panel because the window will appear then hang and I have to force close via command prompt by stopping the corresponding service. ![]() This is the issue:Īny time a logoff or reboot occurs, it takes 1-2 hours to be able to even get to the login screen as the above issue rears its head every time. I have seen plenty of articles relating to this and have been trying almost everything I can. Use Troubleshooting tool to fix audio issue: Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting, and clickView all, then choose playing audioand run the troubleshooter. Updates tried to install and would hang on "Installing update 3 of 3 - 0%". A series of Windows updates hit, and everything went south. The company runs a SBS 2008 R2 server (Dell based system) that up until late last week has been running totally fine. I have been in the IT field for a handful of years now but admittedly am still somewhat of a novice when it comes to higher-level server administration. I just started at a small company (10-15 users) and am providing some IT help. ![]()
